I am looking for two specialist family physicians who would like to embrace a rural lifestyle in South Australia.

The Role
As an essential member of this rural team, you’ll provide primary health care in Booleroo, in addition to providing medical services at the local hospital on a rostered basis and an outreach clinic to the township of Wilmington.
The practice is supported by experienced staff and visiting allied health specialists and it’s an accredited teaching practice offering the opportunity to supervise sixth year, or equivalent, medical students.
Standard work hours include up to 10 sessions per week during consulting hours, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm and an initial 1:2 roster providing emergency afterhours service to the local hospital.
The Booleroo Hospital is located on site with the Medical Practice. It’s a 20-bed facility including:
- acute medical
- aged care
- post-surgical
- transitional care
- palliative care
- basic radiography with digital processor
- ultrasound
- point of care testing
- 24-hour accident and emergency
- Outpatients
Radiology and pathology services are provided by the nearby regional centres of Port Pirie and Port Augusta. Allied health services include physiotherapy, speech pathology, podiatrist, dietician and diabetic educator.
GPs in this town can use the SAVES virtual emergency service to support triage level 3, 4 and 5 presentations, providing a work-life balance and the ability to ‘switch off’ when needed.
There is also a branch practice and hospital in Peterborough (approx. 55 minutes from Booleroo). And in the long term, there will be opportunity for both doctors in Booleroo and both doctors in Peterborough to work across both locations and share in a 1:4 hospital roster, servicing both Booleroo and Peterborough hospitals.

Remuneration
A full time GP working in the Y&NLHN system would expect to earn between $400,000-$450,000 AUD (gross).

On offer is a combination of publicly funded work within the hospital in Booleroo, combined with working in the general practice, where you are undertaking private practice, supported by the staff and facilities of the practice.
